Currently there are NO level 3 Sex Offenders living in the Town of Wayland. Residents should be aware however that an individual currently registered as a homeless person in Framingham, is known to frequent the Town of Wayland for social purposes.
If you would like to view that person, please click the following link.
The Sex Offender Registry Board is presently in the
process of classifying registered sex offenders. The SORB classifies
offenders at three (3) levels; Level 1- Low
risk to re-offend and degree of dangerousness. Level 2- Moderate risk to re-offend and degree of
dangerousness. Level 3- High risk to re-offend and degree of
dangerousness.
MA Sex Offender Registry Web Site
The law only permits the public to receive information on sex offenders required to register and finally classified by the SORB as a Level 2 (moderate risk), or a Level 3 (high risk) offender. Therefore, information is not available to the public if the sex offender is a Level 1 offender, or has not yet been classified by the Board.
In addition to being subject to requests for information at the SORB and Police Departments, Level 3 offenders are subject to "community notification", which must include:
Local newspaper publications and/or announcements on cable TV; AND
Posting bulletins in public buildings; AND
Notification to all schools in the community
The community notification must occur where the offender lives, works and
Where the offence took place.
If there are any questions concerning any aspect of the Sex Offender Registry Law, or the obtaining of offender information please email Lt. Patrick Swanick or telephone (508-358-4721) or click below to go to the Mass. State Sex Offender Register Board.
